Ingredient Spotlight
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is one of the most commonly used oils in cold process soap making and most recipes include this oil. It adds hardness, foaming and great cleansing properties. It also has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is not a great moisturizer so we rely on other oils to add moisturization to soaps. My Salt bars are primarily made with coconut oil as its foaming property counteracts the bubble killing action of the salt.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is also a very common oil used in soap making. It helps make a hard bar and has a creamy lather. It is moisturizing without leaving an oily residue Olive oil can be used on all skin types. It has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, is high in vitamins A, E and beta-carotene and has a lot of antioxidants.
